Life on the river has never been closer! River’s Rest Marina & Resort is a 16.5-acre, family-friendly travel destination located in Charles City, Virginia on the beautiful Chickahominy River. Designed to foster a close-knit community among those who love the waterfront life, River’s Rest offers easy access to a wonderful getaway. Guests take advantage of our 126 exclusively seasonal RV sites and our 68-boat-slip marina with an on-site boat launch and bait and tackle store.
Chickahominy History
The Chickahominy were Native Americans whose population numbered approximately 1,500 at the beginning of the 17th century. Living on both sides of the Chickahominy River, which provided protection and food, they farmed in the summer and fall, and fished, hunted, and gathered in winter and spring. According to anthropologist William Wallace Tooker, “Chickahominy” translates to “People of the Coarse Pounded Corn.”
